Spotlight: ICDG seeking students for China internships The International Center for Democratic Governance (ICDG) is currently seeking undergraduate applications for short-term internship opportunities in China this summer. Two students are needed to accompany University of Georgia faculty and staff abroad June 2–17 while they conduct training in four cities: Beijing, Nanchang, Tianjin, and Xining. Courses will include an introduction to American federalism, human resource management, policy analysis, regional economic development, and public budgeting. Training will take place on the campuses of ICDG’s partner organizations, the provincial administrative institutes located in each city. The interns will help organize the training program and will interact with the Chinese trainees in and out of the classroom (knowledge of Chinese language is not required). Transportation, housing, and food will be provided, and the experience will also give interns the opportunity to learn about culture and historic sites in and around the training sites. In addition to aiding the development of public administration education and outreach in Shanghai, ICDG has provided direct training for Chinese government officials in a variety of provinces around the country as part of its Sino-American Joint Training Program for Public Administrators. |
